Foundation

The Telephone of Hope started 40 years ago, on the 1st of October 1971, in Seville, Spain. The author of this idea was Serafin Madrid, creative person and entrepreneur, who previously had distinguished himself by the creation of other social initiatives of great importance in Spain and South America.

In London the idea of a helpline arises in 2003 by Ernesto Ortega and Nancy Liscano that found each other through a radio program that Nancy had at the time, but even then seemed an impossible idea.

Later Nancy travels to Spain to do a PhD knows closely the telephone of hope and contacts Jesus Madrid, cofounder and Serafin's brother. With his support and with the formation of Nancy, in 2006 begins the training of volunteers and after a great effort the London headquarters was inaugurated in 2008, since then had been serving the Spanish and Portuguese speaking community in the UK.
